What should I see and where should I eat in Nashville?

I'm going on vacation to nashville july 14-17. What sites are must see and what restaurants are unique or local favorites? What should I see and where should I eat in Nashville?
there is SO much to do here, you won't possibly be able to cover it in the few days you'll be here! If you like historic homes, go to The Hermitage, Pres. Andrew Jackson's home. The grounds are beautiful, you get a tour of the mansion and there is also the cemetery, slave quarters, the home his "adopted" son lived in, a church he built for his wife and archaeological digs every summer. Other Civil War era mansions and plantations that are of interest are Carnton Plantation in nearby Franklin, with the blood of the soldiers still in the wooden floor- they used it as a field hospital in 1864. Also, Belle Meade Mansion and Belmont Mansion.

For music visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Musicians Hall of Fame and walk along lower Broadway for the Honky Tonks which play live music all day and 1/2 the night.

There is a good self guided walking tour that starts on 1st Ave. downtown at the Cumberland River at Riverfront Park at Fort Nashboro. It is 2 miles around downtown and takes you past many famous and historic sites. Just follow the line painted on the sidewalk. There are maps at the Visitors Center located inside the Sommet Center- the huge round complex at 4th and Broadway, I think. They will also have more ideas for you.

Go check out Centennial Park with its full size replica of the Parthenon and even the 40' tall gold Athena statue- it's a museum now but was built for the centennial celebration of Nashville in the 1800's. For a nice easy hike, go to Warner Park on Hwy 100.

If you're into museums, check out the Frist and the TN State Museum, both downtown.

We also have 2 beautiful lakes- Percy Priest and Old Hickory. Nashville Shores Water Park is on Percy Priest.

While downtown, eat at Jack's BBQ- widely known and loved!

If you have never eaten at (or heard of) a "Meat and 3" go find one while you're here- it's a Southern tradition! They are usually little hole in the wall places and have the day's menu written on a blackboard. You choose 1 item from the meat side and- you guessed it!- 3 from the side dish side. Very greasy, fattening, home style cooking and yummy! My favorites are in Hendersonville where I live- 20 miles north of Nashville- so I can't really recommend one in Nashville,

Have a great time while you're here! It's a fabulous town. I vacationed here a few times 10 years ago form Las Vegas, and have been living here for 8 years!
My favorites are the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. Nearby is a hispanic bbq that has tasty stuff inexpensive. You can actually smell them cooking from the zoo somedays. What should I see and where should I eat in Nashville?
You must see The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. It is awesome. Also you must see the Nashville Zoo and take a sightseeing cruise on board the General Jackson. You'll get some great views of Nashville.
