Restaurant
Jack's Bar-b-que
416 Broadway
If you don't mind paper plates and napkins, Jack's is the place to go. It has the best barbecue and great prices. You can even buy bottles beer here to compliment your meal.

Sightseeing tour
Try Tootsie's sightseeing tours. Self-proclaimed best in Nashville. I do not really know personally, but if the tour is as good as the bar-it would have to be.

Shopping
This one is a no-brainer. If you can't find it at Opry Mills Mall, it doesn't exist.

Entertainment
Because you are going during Christmas, I would have to mention the Rockettes at the Grand Ole Opry Hall. The Grand Ole Opry returns to its original home to accommodate the Rockettes, so make sure you see the Opry at the Ryman auditorium. Finally (see above re: sightseeing), you can't go wrong with a few drinks at Tootsie's where you can see tomorrow's next talent, and you never know when today's top talent will stop by.

Opry Mills is a good mall for visitors. It is attached to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, a beautiful place to walk around at Christmas. There is The Grand Ole Opry and a Riverboat there also, I believe it is called the Delta Queen.
My favorite restaurant is kobe japanese steakhouse. The best southern place to eat is Loveless Cafe, about 30 min. from downtown. Biscuits, chicken, ham, etc.
There are shops and tourist-appealing things around 2nd Ave. and Broadway downtown.
